And the winner is....

The winner of the February raffle is Sharon W.

Sharon won an uncorrected proof of "Holiday Grind" by Cleo Coyle.

A new raffle starts this month. Anyone who leaves a comment during the month of March is entered into the drawing. This prize for March is a paperback copy of "Rotten to the Core" by Sheila Connolly.

Good luck!

  1. Wow -- even twice in a row!

I don't like to gamble, but I do like to contribute to charitable organizations, and if it happens to be a raffle so be it; but it's never my intent to win.

What are those economics about anyhow with donated raffle prizes? Do they really get in so much more money than the prizes are worth. I contributed to daffodils for the Am Cancer Soc. and felt guilty that i'm getting a product; same for girl scout cookies - and even those go with twice the guilt!

At work they play this "coffee game" where the looser has to pay the 25cent coffee for all other players. Who ever 'paid' the last time picks a number from 0 to 1000 and the players go around the table trying to not to guess the number; the range narrows down with each guess (the caller has to take the next number down/up towards the chosen number from the player to the right so they are not exempt).

Thing is, that it happens fairly consistently to be the 10th, 11th, or 12th guess, so the caller can really choose who to start with so that the 10th thru 12th call is not theirs. I despise that it's not an even risk for everyone; there's just too much anxiety built in it for me. And people get [briefly] nasty playing it. I just don't see the point.

So who can I pass the books onto after i've read them so that others can also benefit?

    Sharon
